The purpose of a portrait is to memorialize an image of someone for the future. My paintings focus on presenting a new, contemporary form of portraiture based on the exacting unit of the human fingerprint, thus merging science and humanity with the age-old art of portraiture. The work describes a deep insight, which offers an analysis beyond the superficial portrait, to chronicle the inner significance of the force of meaningful individuals via an abstract, emotional, psychological depiction based upon their specific fingerprints. The fingerprint in and of itself, so beautifully conveys the concept of each individual’s unique experience and life story. I have found so much information within the whorls and lines belonging to each person that correlates sometimes directly to their quality of life and the specific circumstances they have been exposed to throughout their lifetime.
